Call for Proposals for the 2023 APAHC Conference

Advocacy in Action:
The Role of Academic Health Center Psychologists as
Leaders in Local and Global Change

The Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers (APAHC) Conference Planning Committee is pleased to invite proposals for oral and poster presentations for our 2023 Conference which will be held in Louisville, KY at the historic Seelbach Hotel from March 16th through the 18th, 2023. The focus of the conference will be Advocacy in Action, highlighting the many roles academic health psychologists take on in promoting change through academic, clinical, legislative, and many other professional activities at all levels.

We look forward to developing and complementing this conference theme with programming from our membership and encourage your submission. The Program Committee encourages abstract submissions across all areas relevant to psychology in academic health centers, with particular interest in submissions related to the following areas:

  • Examples of psychologists as advocating for clinical or policy change locally for individuals and groups, within their healthcare system and surrounding contexts, or at the societal level.

  • The role of psychologists as advocates for individuals and groups disproportionally impacted by large scale crises within health care or the health care system.

  • Unique opportunities for psychologists to advocate not just for patients and their physical and mental health, but for the role of psychology broadly in academic health.

  • Novel strategies to promote advocacy for priorities in academic health locally, nationally, and globally, e.g. addressing health disparities, access to care/education and health outcomes (e.g., related to COVID-19, underrepresented communities).

  • The role of psychology in advocating for gender equity and inclusion
